November 2004

7But just as you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in

your love for us—see that you also excel in this grace of giving.  14 At the present time your plenty will

supply what they need, so that in turn their plenty will supply what you need.”

–2 Corinthians 8:7,14

Believing that all we have and are comes

from God & that we should return the first

fruits of our labor, Habitat for Humanity

affiliates worldwide have adopted the Biblical

model of the tithe.  Through the tithe, Sea

Island has sponsored nearly 190 homes for

our sister affiliate in Ghana since 1996—

3 of which were built by a mission team from

our affiliate this past November.  In turn,

Ghana tithes 10% of their contributions to

Nepal —and so on.

A Ghana Shack Hope for a Better Future

In November 2004 a 17-member mission team--lead by Troy Pruitt ,

Construction Manager at Sea Island Habitat, traveled to Ghana ,

West Africa, and blocked up 3 houses in 6 days!

Members of the mission team participated in a “block party” out at out our Sea Island Place subdivision before the trip in order to learn the basics of block laying.  Too bad there were no mortar mixers or bags of “Quickcrete” in Ghana ! J
