OK, so what is Building on Faith?
Building on Faith is a celebration of our church supporters! Though Sea Island Habitat for Humanity builds on faith every day, a specific Building on Faith Week has become a way for Habitat affiliates and churches around the world work together in a profound expression of God’s love. Habitat for Humanity is a Bible-based ministry, and we want the faith community to be leaders in service by building simple decent homes for people in need. Habitat enables you to do this and is based on the following principles:
1.
Charge no
interest and seek no profit · Exodus 22:25: “If you lend money to my people, to the poor among you, you shall not deal with them as a creditor; you shall
not exact interest from them.” 2.
God
expects us to share our resources
·
Acts 20:35 reminds us of Jesus’ words that it is more blessed to give
than to receive. 3.
Grace and
love abound for all, equally
·
Matthew 20:1-16: Through the parable of the landowner and the laborers,
Jesus teaches us that
the needs of people are paramount, and the
response to those needs is not connected in any way to usefulness or productivity.
Neat. What else will go on during "Building on Faith?" * Bulletin inserts to pray for Sea Island Habitat * Have your church volunteer on our worksite or @ our ReStores * "Building on Faith" devotionals for your church or family
(To receive Building on Faith devotionals or bulletin inserts, please send an e-mail to our Church Relations Coordinator @ outreach@seaislandhabitat.org.) |
